Sports Games as Motivation for At-Risk & Disengaged Students: In our student mentoring sessions, former pro quarterback Tony Banks poses the following question to full assemblies of students. “How many of you only come to school so you can play sports?” On average, an overwhelming 75% of the students raise their hands, confirming that sports and games are highly motivating for disengaged and at-risk students.

Today’s digital learners are looking for something new and exciting to keep them engaged.
Technology, sports and video games all play significant parts in this generation’s daily lives, so Kid’s College combines the three with standards-based curriculum to deliver a revolutionary educational experience.
Results show that even the hardest-to-reach students are immersed in the Kid’s College online program both in the classroom and after school on their own time. In fact, 24% of all questions answered by Kid’s College students nationwide in 2007-08 were answered after school hours. |

| Positive Reinforcement For Skills Practice |
In Kid’s College, students answer Math and Reading/Language Arts questions in order to unlock game time in their favorite sports video game. Game time acts as positive reinforcement for standards-based skills practice. Students can choose from six sports: snowboarding, soccer, basketball, football, volleyball or baseball.
From within the Classroom Management System, teachers can easily manage the number of correct answers required to unlock game time and the length of play rewarded. |

| Friendly competition is also a motivator for students as they challenge each other to post the highest score in their favorite Kid’s College sport. Students can go to www.kccontest.com at any time to see how they rank in class, grade, school, district, and even state and national contests. |
